Saturday Afternoon Workshops

WriteStuff All Access Pass participants will enjoy afternoon workshops designed for aspiring authors, book lovers, and published authors. Choose from any of the following:
- So You Want To Write? Fun, interactive, real life “HOW TO” writing and publishing workshops taught by authors and professionals actively working in the industry. Writing sessions include: Memoirs (Instructor: Lorene Burkhart); Historical Fiction (Instructor: James Alexander Thom); Humor (Instructor: Dick Wolfsie); Mystery (Instructor: TBA); The Secrets of Self-Editing (Instructor: TBA).
- Fixing a Flat Tire on the Internet Super Highway, Instructor: Tom Britt. Feeling left behind on the Internet? Need to develop an author or business Website? Then this workshop is for you as it explores the basics of how the Web really works and how it can work for you!
- What’s New in Publishing? (Panel Discussion) Representatives will discuss the latest in publishing, book marketing and special art features that every writer needs to understand including self-publishing, working with illustrators, printing and book production. Steve Moore, President, Delp Printing and Mailing; Julie Shore and Kate Jones, author/illustrator of Howard the Fish/Juka Books; Pat Kieffer, Director, IBJ Custom Books.
- Show Me The Money! Moderator: Brenda Hiatt Barber. Get the inside scoop from a Harlequin romance and fiction author as she shares the good and little known secrets of how to make a living as a professional writer.
- The Secrets of Fun Book Clubs! Moderator: Jane Lommel. Designed for book clubs or readers considering starting a book club. Topics offered include: Starting an International book club; Tips on member participation; Getting members to read the book and more!
- From An Idea to a Finished Book! Listen to the real life journey of one writer, Andi Simmons, as she takes you behind the scenes of the creative process. Her book, Unearthing Belle: The Scientist, the Serial Killer and a 100-year Old Mystery, is based on one of the most sensational, never-solved murder mystery in the United States. It happened right here in Indiana! This is a story you won’t want to miss!
- The Crafting of a Story, Rabbi Sandy Sasso, author and illustrator, Joani Rothenberg! Rabbi Sandy Sasso is a remarkable storyteller. Her award winning children’s book, Butterflies Under Our Hats, demonstrates the power of a story inspired by a Jewish folktale. Joani Rothenberg will discuss how, as an artist, she created the beautiful illustrations for this award-winning book.
- There are Mountains to Climb! Jean Deeds was a 51-year-old conservative career woman with no hiking or camping experience when she set out to walk the 2,155 mile, mountainous Appalachian Trail alone. This amazing journey led to a published book that continues to inspire all who read it!
This premier event will also host a community exhibit area for sponsor and vendor participation, including author book signings and conference book store supported by Castleton Borders Books and Music, Inc. – Borders Books will host the Author’s Book Signing Table for invited conference authors.
